This treated water can be used for all domestic purposes such as washing cars, cleaning toilets, and watering gardens, golf courses, and green spaces. For industrial units, this water can be reused as cooling water, boiler water, cleaning water, or auxiliary water in various production processes.
The most frequently used wastewater purification technologies are:
- Biological purification: activated sludge process, biological oxidation by contact, biological disc, etc.
- Chemical-physical purification: treatment by adsorption with activated carbon, ozone oxidation and disinfection methods, ion exchange processes, dosing of precipitation agents, etc.
- Membrane purification: reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and microfiltration. This technology is very often associated with the other two methods when it comes to the reuse of wastewater in drinking water.
