As a company that attaches great importance to social and environmental commitments, the QT Group has always provided its expertise in the context of Chinese foreign aid to desalination and wastewater treatment projects.

The Maldives are famous for their natural splendor, with atolls that combine the turquoise blue of the ocean with white sandy beaches, as well as a climate conducive to beach tourism, which has become the country's main engine of growth.

However, due to climatic variations and increasing demands for drinking water, fresh groundwater reserves have been reduced and residents often face a problem of drinking water shortage.

To meet the daily drinking water needs of more than 10,000 Maldivian islanders, the QT group, in partnership with its civil engineering and renewable energy partners, provided 5 containerized seawater desalination units, powered by the solar energy to 5 islands in the Maldives as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Currently, this initiative is being replicated in other African and Arab countries to address the shortage of fresh water and promote sustainable development.
